My Departure
I am leaving in the evening for California (God, I wish I knew how to cook well)!. It’s a long flight (7 or 8 hours); will probably sleep and read most of the time. I have a mixture of excitement and nervousness. InshaAllah, I will do well. Wish me luck with my new work and keep me your in du’as and prayers.

good luck with your new job. locate the halal butcher, preferrably a lover of Ali (imam ali that is) and one that has good hygiene and a good idea of what halal means. get a whole lot of pataks (or other brand name) curry pastes. onions and a 5- 10kg bag of rice. cut the meat up into small pieces so that it defrosts and cooks fast. put meat in freezer bags, flatten for easy storage and fast defrosting. stock the freezer full. if you dont have a small rice cooker get one for the microwave. that takes care of much of your lunch and dinner protein and carbs. for greens and fruit, you need to buy them every week or so. canned beans are very good, low GI and have protein, you can put them in your food, or have them with salad. i prefer with salad.
chances are your food will never taste as good as your mothers, but then again that is why they call it mother’s cooking.
wait a min this isnt the first time youve lived away from home :wtw: why the worry over cooking?

oh man!
6. Master the Control - Tab keys, so when the boss comes into your office you can quickly switch _away_ from the web browser.
Well, for Firefox.. CTRL + TAB switches tabs. But if you want to go back to another application it’s ALT + TAB

Munzareen,
Good catch… I meant to say Alt-Tab … Ctrl-Tab could have gotten Abbas in trouble. I can just see it happening:
*Abbas hears the boss’s footstep… tip tap tip tap*
Abbas: Oh Crap!
*CTRL-TAB* — YouTube.com Video of the Hizbullah Anthem
*CTRL-TAB* — Dr. Ahmedinejad’s Blog
*CTRL-TAB* — Picture of Abbas wearing a Hasan Nasrullah T-Shirt
Abbas, scraching his head….
*Boss sticks head inside cubicle*
Boss: Hello. Abbas. How’s working going? *as he stares at the the monitor*
Abbas: Ummm….
*trying to inconspicuously minimize window*
Abbas: its.. its… going well. I …
*Abbas forgot to X out on window with the picture I sent him of us holding a Hizbullah flag* ….
*BUSTED*
… ok before _I_ get busted, I’m going back to work

Never eat at a place called Moms.
Never play poker with a guy named Doc.
Never love any women who has more to lose than you.
May Allah bless you and your new job. Trust in Hu and all will go well.
