The Land of Sorrow

Posted in Current Events at 9:31 pm by Abbas

Sa’adi, a great Muslim poet, once said,

Human beings are like parts of a single body; if one part is wounded, the rest hurts. You, unmoved by the pain of others, are not worthy of being called human.

    Very true.

Even if we take it outside the context of Islam, the world is becoming increasingly independent. Isolationist policies of the past will not do today. Things that happen in one part of the world inevitably affect us. If we want to see any peace on this earth we need to compromise. And compromise doesn’t mean compromising one’s beliefs. It just means coming to an agreement of sorts.

Allah does not change a people’s lot unless they change what is in their hearts. (13:11)

What we don’t realize though is that our station with Allah also affects our brethren. We are deviating from the din and lacking in knowledge. We need to seek that connection with Allah. We need to cleanse our hearts and our selves. My brother once said that there are over a billion Muslims in the world. One of the roots of Muslim is s-l-m. The root for peace. If over a billion people in this world, 1/6 of the entire global population, were practicing peace, don’t you think the world would be a better place?

May Allah guide us and help us draw closer to Him. May He aid us in cleansing our hearts. May He alleviate the suffering of our people all around the world and guide peopel back to the true light of Islam.
